First we would say that if you have dial up then if there is anyway possible to get high speed internet access then go for it. You would be amazed that the speed you can surf the net.

Second, as a website owner you need to realize that there are hundred of thousands of people still using dial-up.

So, with that in mind, your page needs to load as quickly as possible. You should reduce the number of graphics and special effects and instead focus on the site load quickly. Most people will not stick around for more than 8-10 seconds for a site to load. We are in a microwave society and we want it now and we want it fast.

Do not limit yourself to the high speed users when you are building your sites. Go to someone's house and load your page on dial-up and see how it loads.... toooooo slow? Cut back the fat.
