Windows 64-bit Technology

Questions have been flying in with the recent release of Windows 64-bit technologies and the more recent early release of LongHorn.

Like most products released by Microsoft....YES, you will see some improvements, but is there real substance? First, let's talk about what you can see. If you like Apple's pretty interface, you will get very excited about Longhorn. The interfaces between Apple and Microsoft are looking more similiar everyday. With 3d and increase color depth, the Windows user is about to be introduced to a whole new interface.

Now, what you can't see. The 64-bit tech heads will love they can now put about 128GB of physical ram in the machine, but they will be frustrated for some time until all the hardware vendors update drivers. BUT, HP, the old relable company they are, release a 64-bit box recently.

Now, if the hardware doesn't kill your patience, then the wait for the updated software surely will. In fact, you will even find most of Microsoft products aren't ready for the updated OS. BUT, as always, time and technology march on.

Should you be one of those daring types....take a shot at WinXP 64; otherwiese, sit back and enjoy what you have. Remember it won't be long until it isn't here anymore either.

Does anyone remember Windows 3.11?
