Kids and the internet

How many kids have internet access these days? Well, a new report for the Pew Internet & American Life Project found that nine out of 10 youth (12-17 years old) have online access. Compare that to 66% of adult americans who use the internet. So, is it a fad? Doesn't look like it. But with more and more kids watch/surfing more and more internet sites, the question becomes: how do we keep our kids safe?

Everyone has heard about kids and Instant Messages, and I receive probably 3-5 calls a week because little Jimmy (age 11-12) has found the wonders of www.XXX.com (an online adult site). So, what are we, as guardians and parents, to do? Do we take away this powerful learning tool? Do we allow our children to use only when we are in the room?

There is no perfect answer, of course. And just like the television, our kids have friends who parents are less strict or unaware of what's out there. BUT, unlike the television, the computer and the internet are INTERACTIVE. 46% of youth (9 to 19 years old) have given out personal information on the internet. At Aquaduckie.com and Robertkohl.com, we believe it's time to watch those children and keep them safe. Contact us for more information on the subject and allow us to secure your home computers.
