If your site has Adobe PDF pages that need to be downloaded for viewing, then make sure that you also have a link where people can download Adobe Reader. Your would be amazed how many people do not have Adobe installed on their computer. If they do not have Adobe then they will not be able to read your files. People generally do not know where to go to find the Adobe download nor are they going to take the time to find it just to read your documentation. So, make it easy on your visitors and set up a link to Adobe. This will increase the visitors ability to flow smoothly with your applications. Keep it simple... you are not usually selling to rocket scientist just people like you and me who want it quick, easy and did I mention quick....
