Getting listed in the open directory ensures that you are also listed in other directories that are powered by the open directory like Google. Getting submitted to the Open Directory can also increase your site rankings. Go to the Open Directory and submit your site to a relevant category. Make sure your site is complete prior to submitting to the directory.
